does anybody know where i can find a very detailed guide on Search engine optimization because right now i am absolutely clueless as to what to do. i signed up and verified a website for google's webmasters tools. i heard you do keyword research and use meta tags or something but how can i do this to a blog like a blogger blog

I would pick up a copy of Search Engine Optimization for Dummies at a local bookstore to start out with, if you are really clueless.

Although there are good websites (wikipedia actually has a good primer on SEO), I find that having a book on SEO is better to get started.

For a blogger blog, I would make the archives accessible, and just try to get inbound links to the blog - otherwise I'm not exactly sure what else to do.

I agree with Edward on investing a copy of SEO for Dummies (the Dummies ebook always work) this will give you a good heads up. There are thousands of information about SEO online. There are also hundreds of SEO solutions to choose from. So if you don't know much about SEO, don't just buy anything that says it will give you an autopilot traffic of some sort. If you know the different SEO methods then you're good to go, you'll know where to go next.

In keyword research for your blogger blog, make sure that the keywords you want to rank high in are 100% related to your site, that's how Keyword Density kicks in. Remember that you don't really need to compete with big websites for really big keywords especially that you have just started. Your aim is decent amount of traffic with less competition.

Again, read the Dummies book.
