I have always found it hard to give up money on a gamble. But, i am starting to enjoy the unknown aspect of shares. I have started to "practice". Basically, i choose 3 companies and choose a number of shares. I do not buy the shares, but i pretend i do, i keep track of the prices, i see how much i have made/lost. By doing this i start to learn about what having shares means and how i can manage them. I am gaining an understanding of the stock market that i couldn't have gained otherwise unless i actually bought some. So if you fancy having a go at stocks and shares i reccomend you do this for 6 months, its a long time to wait but it could save you a lot of money.

You could look at this...
http://vse.marketwatch.com/Game/Game...d=MakeYouGoHmm It is a virtual stock game in real time mode. You don't spend money to play it but you can win money. It is good to practice without taking a risk.

Welcome to Investopedia.com - they have a stock simulator which uses real share values updated every 10-20 minutes.
It is a fantastic website which also explains alot of aspects of the stock exchange world. |
