I found this yesterday and was definitely surprised. I thought only companies that sold products or services make the stock exchange. But Banks.com is nothing more than just a generic domain name that makes money through advertising. Yes, it's a penny stock but still. This story opened my eyes a bit.

I wouldn't point my worst enemy to those sort of stocks. A majority of the value of those sort of stocks are the domain name, which was one of the factors in the tech bubble. In contrast however, there is definite scope in that website to be the next comparethemarket.com - and I suppose you could count offering advertising as a service.
