hey people! This might sound a bit random ,but I'm glad to announce that I'm finally moving on to my final year of school next year (I loath school and believe my time there is long overdue). But anyways I have'nt been around for a while and seems I have to start from scratch from my last time online - I lost my domain to my host for missing a payment NB: ALWAYS READ THE FINEPRINT ON CONTRACTS. And so right now it's just me and my head ,or whatever I think up. And that's about it for now.
PS: I see the forum has grown from the last I was around ,more users than before. Anyways Hi to all who may be new.

Hey Malaika.
I was in a similar position to you not too long ago. Here in the UK you need to go to school at least until the age of 16. So this summer I stopped with school because I felt it was taking up too much time and that it was not helping me get to where I want to be. Now I've started studying for a business degree with The Open University, which is a distance learning University bases in the UK. I have freed up more than 50% of my time and I can now pursue the things which truly interest me (including learning about business at the OU). So I totally support your decision but you must make sure you do something instead of school. Do you have a plan of what you want to do when you're finished with this year? Will you start a business or go work somewhere? Maybe travel around? Don't become idle. |

@Ginberry ,I'll most probably study when I finish school ,something with programming. I also want to travel at the same time. I just don't want to my plans clash. At the moment I not particularly busy with anything ,but I do have ideas. I just take it as it comes and see how things go.

The final year of school and my current final year at uni have 1 similarities. I can't wait for it to end. But I think that is exactly what the goal is, isn't it? School is suppose to prepare you for your next step in furthering your education, while a degree has prepared you for the real world. So after years of theory and case studies, it's only natural to want to get out and get your hands dirty. But sadly patience is a virtue people are loosing touch with, thanks to the Internet and other tech improvements we want things here and now. And this includes other desires in our lives, we want them here and now. Best advise is to think it through, advise with others, acknowledge their opinion, but I the end do what you think is the right thing for your future.
Again, now a days school/university can be taken from any part of the world, you don't need to sit in their institution to further your education.

@Lost in moscow , I beg to differ. School is suppose to prepare for the 'real world' and all,but does it. Many graduates still get quite a culture shock when they have to hustle out in the workplace or wherever. Anyways ,there's always a big debate on whole school ,no school thing. As for loosing patience in today's world, well... if your internet takes long to connect ,then it's not a matter of patience ,it's a matter of something being wrong ,right? That goes for everything else ,cause that's the type of world we live in. Cheers!

And most kids don't actually pay much attention in school, I was generally one of those, but I recently enough understood the series of chained events thought my life that got me to be the person I am now. I linked a lot of my habits, and trains of thought as well as other things back to certain moments of my childhood, and a majority I picked up while in an education facility, this includes the sports I took. So I actually enjoy learning things right now, I notice the difference, just like working out at the gym, over time you notice the effect. I noticed that I read most of my time now, I don't force myself, I still play games now and then, but that's just it, I want to read, where 6 years ago I spent most of my days playing WoW, very happy bliz screwed up the game, was easy to quit.
But of course there are the rich kids who where never taught the value of money, sure, there are many different reason in the end. But we as kids spend more time in school then anything else other then sleep, so it is the biggest factor till at least 16. And those are the prime years to educate, the brain sucks everything in like a dry sponge. I would love to have known where I would be if I had paid attention more.
