At uni/college what computing hardware do you use to get your work done? It seems there's a big emphasis on using Apple laptops there? For what reason is that? For their sort of easy-to-use functionality?

I use my Apple MacBook Pro for pretty much everything, it's fantastic. They're very portabile, fast, powerful and generally fantastic for business. Also, the design is great, you see a lot of lit up apple logos at tech/business events...

I'm the same, at home I use a Mac Pro workstation, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air (& iPad, iPhone etc. but is that really hardware or more of a gadget?).
And at work, I use an iMac 27" and the whole office uses iMac's. They're good computers; they last a long time, they're reliable, they're aesthetically pleasing - just all round performance machines. |

I use my MacBook Pro for all heavy(er) duty things like taking care of my website, and then my iPhone 4 for everything mobile. The combination of the two (and the way that they sync up) is sick, and I can everything done that I need to. I love my MacBook Pro, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Here's something i've been wondering for those of you with Apple laptops, how quickly do they boot up? Generally laptops do slow down with time, and i'd hate to be in a class using a laptop and have to wait for it to boot up, any might miss anything important. Does the boot up time with an Apple laptop increase with time too?

I've been using my MBP for almost two years now and I don't see any performance difference than when I first got it. Sure, you need to do some regular maintenance on it every once in a while, but it's nothing like a PC. Mine starts up just as fast as when I first got it.

I mainly use my Macbook Pro at sixth form, will continue to use it when I go to uni as well
Lots of people at my sixth form do not bring in their own laptops so they use the schools ones which are slower at loading up. I can be already working and they will be 5-10 mins behind. Mac's are just so quick at starting up and loading applications up.
