Default 6 Hours and my network is setup

So today i set out to get my home 100% networked. Most things in my house that can be networked were but it just wasnt done properly and some devices didnt work with others and some ran slow. So after 6 hours of work today finally every possible device in my home is all on the same network and can access any other device or hard drive in my house. So that means 4 laptops, 2 desktops, 2 tvs, 1 media player, 1 bluray player, 2 network hard drives, 6 normal hard drives, 3 phones, 1 tablet, 2 printers, 3 gaming consoles and 2 power points.

Yes i decided to go all out and turn 2 power points into network points that run through the power lines (i thought it was a clever concept, not that ill ever use them). The main problem was trying to get a wireless bridge setup to some of the devices and after trying to work it out for 2 hours it turned out all i had to do was click on troubleshoot in windows and it would fix the problem (ip issue).

So tomorrow i plan to finish the job by adding an 8 port gigabit switch under the house and putting a gigabit connection in every room, probably will only ever be used to transfer files between hard drives.

Its probably over the top but its the next step in allowing me to use my phone to control everything in my house. The next step is to mount a touch screen monitor in the kitchen and set up computer for recipes and shopping lists as well as tv. Probably another pointless device that ill never use but its always fun setting these things up and then trying to teach the fiance how to use them.

Anyone have any ideas on what else i can add that isnt too difficult or has anyone set something awesome up in their house that isnt what normal people have?

Good Job!! Something I have loved is speakers throughout the house. They're easy to setup and if you love to listen to music they are useful.

Speakers around the house is something I will do eventually. I already have the switch box and the outdoor speakers and my loungeroom is already done and wired ready to connect to the switch box. I was just going to leave it at that but I might do more rooms.

One part of my says that sounds really awesome, but another says that's a bit too much tech especially to be in almost every room of the house, I think i'd rather have most computer/network devices in one room apart from say a laptop to take to another!

MRTG thats what the fiance says. She hates technology. But thats the way technology is going and eventually every house will have a lot more technology so why not get an early start on it. Also gives me something to do when im bored.

Do you have the blinds over the windows that can be remote operated? Those are pretty nifty.
