Default Anyone else hate tax time?

I love the tax returns we get from having a home based business, it's pretty awesome. But I HATE entering receipts into spreadsheets That is what I'm doing all day today since I procrastinated all year....at least I have the receipts filed properly.....

Never met someone who actually liked it. Of course I don't like it either, I don't qualify for doing income taxes with the IRS, but I do it every month in Arizona and yearly in Washington State.

in canada, well at least in alberta, it's all yearly. though it would make so much more sense if i just did it monthly and kept on top of it. but it's like vacuuming, i just hate it so much!!!! my fiance doesn't mind inputing the receipts, but i don't think it's fair if he's working at his job all day and then helping me run the business at night to tack on doing the paperwork. that would just make me super lazy....

It has never been a problem with me but this year its going to hurt as its my first year of having income from 2 sources, pretty sure i wont be getting a tax return and i need to try and find enough deductions to not have to pay any tax. But ive kept on top of it so it shouldnt be too hard for me when the time comes around.

if you own a business you have a TON of tax write offs. It's probably different in the states than canada, but having a home based business we can write off a portion of our mortgage/rent, $.52/km anywhere driven for business, lunch/dinner/coffee receipts where business was discussed (which is every occation), phone bills, utilities, car maintenance, plane tickets to business seminars etc etc etc.

So we get huge tax returns which is good, but as you can see, we have to account for all that crap which is very time consuming....in two years we will be able to pay someone to bookkeep for us.

I do all bookkeeping myself. I keep two seperate folders for income and expenses. I hand these over to my accountant at the end of they year and he fills in my tax return for me - I pay him one fee a year.

our accountant does all the submitting, but if we had her do all the adding and filing it would cost us way too much. but in two years it will make more sense to have someone else do it for us. i just spent 6 hours doing the whole year....i cannot procrastinate like that this year!
