Anyone else notice?

Perhaps it's just me, but I haven't been here as much lately. When I do come around, it seems that the quality of posts have... dwindled.

I see a lot of SPAM, members with 1 or 2 sentence responses, etc. Heck, I log-in the other day and a member who I have -never- interacted with before, on this site or off-site has PMed me asking me to help fund his 'start up' / forum with the investments going towards, 'purchasing a domain'. Yes, seriously.

I'm a huge fan of entrepreneurship and will always support younger people who are interested in it (Y'all teens) but you guys need to get your friends posting here. I'm not sure where TBF is advertising but it seems to be attracting a lot of hit-or-miss characters that just want to spam their affiliate links or post a link to their blog about handbags in a thread that has nothing to do with handbags.

Sorry for the little rant. I don't want to offend anyone but this is an observation I have made and just wanted to put it out there. Like I said, i'm not around as much as I used to be as i'm busy developing a new project but when I do come over here it just seems (to me, at least) that the quality of content has gone downhill, namely from some newer members who may have the wrong-idea as to what this forum is for. It's a place to connect and exchange ideas, get advice, and chit-chat about business and other related things. Not a place to be asking for handouts when you have 5 posts and no established presence here or a place to spam your blog.

You are right Curtis, it seems spam bots are taking over, I don't think its TBF, I beileve its just the spammers finding TBF on google, (its how I found it). But moderators don't seem to be doing their jobs, I mean no disrespect but it's true.

Curtis and Daniel - thanks for pointing this out. Jack and I will be addressing this immediately. I've noticed the same type of activities and we do want to keep the interaction at a high level. There is a tremendous amount of benefit in connecting, sharing, and networking here. If either if you have ideas on how we can correct we are definitely open to hearing that.

I got the same PM -- I'm not sure if everyone got it or not, but regardless, it's somewhat annoying. Generally, I'm more than willing to help people out with advice or capital (if it's a genuinely good idea/plan) but getting a message from someone who I've never spoken to and know absolutely nothing about is solicitation to an extent beyond my comfort zone.

I also received the PM. Pretty sure the user sent it to every active member he could find. I find that pretty unacceptable just because it was such a short/under developed request.

Agree. I received it too. As most other members on here, I would gladly help others out on here but the request was a bit desperate and not thought out. No business plan. No contact beforehand. Just a request for money. Spam as many users as possible in the hope someone would give them money.

True, but it's making me kind of bummed out that now when I see a new user I'm afraid it's going to be one where the only replies to welcome them are the spammers who are all like "I'm new here too." and "I also new."

I didn't get any annoying PMs so far, only ones containing jobs for me (which are great).

But I also noticed that I use "mark all as read" more than ever before.
The topics are really vague and uninteresting in my opinion. The kind of stuff you find on (some lame) marketing forums.
And lots of REAL spam indeed.

Way more topics than before, barely reading any of them anymore.
So yea, the quality isn't that good anymore, in my opinion.
