Hello all, I want to encourage each of you to watch this and then share it on Twitter, Facebook, with your email list, etc. Clay Shirky has put this into layman terms for all to understand the impact of it. I can't encourage you enough: Clay Shirky: Why SOPA is a bad idea | Video on TED.com
After watching share your thought. |

This might also help explain things.
PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet There was a very popular site known as megaupload.com. The US government shutdown this site which is similar to dropbox. It was based mainly out of New Zealand and Hong Kong. All this site was, was a file sharing site, but the US government thought that what they did was wrong and shut them down. Anonymous attacked the government in protest. This will explain more about what anonymous did. Megaupload Op: Anonymous downs FBI, DoJ, music sites in biggest attack ever My question is if they are able to do this, why is this act needed?

So when someone first brought this up, I had NO idea what it was. Yes, I'm ashamed of that. But because of the community, we were all able to learn a bit more. So I reached out to entrepreneurs to find out how it would affect different industries. Here is how it would have killed your business:
We Stopped #SOPA (For Now), But Here’s How It Would Have Killed Your Business |

The biggest effect i can see it having is Google and Facebook. Google spider goes out and gets the sites, Google is the biggest copyright infringment linking site in the world so Google would be shut down in 3 seconds.
Facebook is the biggest sharing website, all someone has to really do is quote a song lyric that is copyright and bam, Facebook is gone. Now a lot of businesses are run on facebook so there is a lot of businesses no longer alive. Goodbye forums unless you have more moderators then normal forum members to check every post as its put up. Whos to say that email shouldnt be taken down in this. I get hundreds of emails everyday and im sure quite a lot of it is linking me to copyright content. Now the question is who really has rights over the content. Did the person give rights to a website to use their material just to then put in a complaint and get the website shut down for stealing copyrighted material. Just creates a whole lot more paperwork. Where does it end?
