Default Finally Got Spotify

Spotify finally came to the US. Really excited to see what all the hype is about. I like Pandora, but also don't like it. I like that it's music at a very very cheap cost- $1.99 a month unlimited. I don't like it because I can't play the songs I want to listen to.

I had Grooveshark before when it was free and that allowed me to listen to the songs I want while also find music. But that became premium so I dropped that.

With all the good things I'm hearing about Spotify, I'm looking for it to impress me.

Are you on Spotify?

I used a proxy and told it I was in the UK. Worked perfectly. I honestly don't know what took so long to make something like this. In a way I like it, and in a way I don't.

I believe that there are artists out there who deserve money from music sales. Does each artist have to give permission to be put on Spotify or do they automatically add it? I still buy my music from respectable artists, which is what I believe.

There are many small-time bands that deserve that dollar for that song you love. Are these artists somehow making money from this?

They are. It's somewhere in their FAQ.

Spotify is amazing. Or was until they changed their subscriptions. Without buying any of the subscriptions, you can only listen to music a few hours a week, and once you've listened to a song 5 times, it becomes locked.

I've never used spotify, whenever I see something where you need to pay for it I never do it, I personally don't have the money nor the time for this sort of stuff.

I have used Spotify since the week it was released. It's an excellent service that is well worth the small amount £4.99 (for unlimited ads, free with ads) (or £9.99 if you choose the Premium version) that cheapskates refuse to pay, I think they could easily get away with charging more.

If the music you like isn't on there, then fair enough - don't spend the money, you can search the selection of music available on Spotify before signing any sort of payment agreement.

It used to be available here in Ireland as premium only, vanished around 4 months later. T'was brilliant at the time, the ad's drove me mad though - wasn't able to mute my sound without the ad pausing

Sadly they'll never be able to launch in Ireland, as the company who owns every line in Ireland launched a web-based spotify clone, free to all their customers and only a few € a month for all non-customers, with X amount of free music downloads per month totally ad free too! eircommusichub.ie

I love Spotify, though I'm not a fan of the fact that you can only listen to a song 5 times. They have to make their money somewhere, and it's definitely a service I'd pay for as it's absolutely great. I agree though, before paying ANYTHING you should check they actually offer the music you want.
