On my desktop my wireless adaptor has broke and i can't use Ethernet as my router/modem is downstairs and i'm upstairs.
I'm writing this from my laptop which is not the best, but has wireless. Is it possible to link my laptop up to my desktop and use the laptops wireless connectivity on my desktop. Thanks. Samuel. |

Enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the laptop, then connect a crossover network cable from your desktop to the laptop. Ensure that the desktop is set to DHCP. Then make sure that the ICS is directed towards the Ethernet port on your laptop (i.e. the port that is connected via a crossover network cable to your desktop).
That should allow the laptop to effectively act as a bridge and provide a network connection and file sharing capabilities to your desktop. You may need to refresh the IP address on your desktop. Last edited by bw9231345; 04-25-2011 at 11:26 AM.. |
