I've used most of the tablets out there right now and the iPad is still my favourite!!
It's a mixture of simplicity of iOS which will become even better with ios5 ! Also the design of the iPad and multitude of apps available?? |

If you like the iphone then get an ipad. If you like android then get something like the xoom. I much prefer android because you can customise it to anything you want, you can put new roms on and make it do anything imaginable. But with ipads you can do what apple wants you to do.

Have to agree that Apple restricts you but this is for my Dad and other than browsing the internet, he won't be doing much else.
I'm going to have a look at Android as well though, thanks guys ![]() |

The iPad is good I must say but if you are working on a budget then it is worth looking at some of the (much!) cheaper android alternatives out there.
I recently purchased a 10" tablet called the Flytouch 3 for £105 on special offer so you an get some incredible deals if you shop around. |

Android tablets have got better, but you still have to fork out the same price as an iPad to get something anywhere nearly comparable to one.
If internet browsing is important, do not get an Android tablet. Whilst both run Webkit browsers (they display pages the same and support all of the latest technology), Android has terrible scrolling and gestures. The touch scrolling is very blocky and the pinch-like gestures are simply hacks. I've tested more than 5 Android tablets, and they're all the same. The reason for it is that Android doesn't have a proper hardware accelerated layer for web browsing yet. Everything has to be rendered in software and then 'sent' to the screen. It would be like playing computer games without a graphics card. The CPU could handle it but the game would be nearly unplayable. The Apple limitations don't exactly apply on the iPad. I jailbroke my iPhone because I wanted it to do some fancy stuff on the cell network. |
