Im getting married in May next year and since we have been engaged we have decided that we will be doing a 3month drive around Europe and UK. But as time has gone on and bills have come in the 3month drive has turned into 2months and now its looking hard to even do the 2months. Along with the fact that both of us now own a business each and we will have no income to pay off the house while we are gone, it makes it hard to go away for a long time right now.
So what im looking for is another idea for a honeymoon that we can stay 2-4weeks. We dont mind doing a bit of travel as we dont want to be on the same tropical island for 4 weeks, they get boring. We dont want romantic, we want fun. It can be anywhere in the world. Places ive looked so far are Canada, Tahiti, Dubai, Phuket, China, and lots more. So what is the best place you have traveled to (or is where you live awesome), share your experiences and help us decide where to go. Now i just need to convince my fiance that we are going to have to hold off on Europe so that way we can do it properly in a couple of years.

Cruises are actually very fun. Carnival cruise ships have a ton of fun activities onboard. After being on a few ships, I think Carnival was the most fun. And depending on the destination you go to, you get to visit many different locations.
Cancun, Bahamas, Aruba are all good places that have all-inclusive packages where everything is included (minus any motorsports). |

Secondly, if I could go anywhere in the world right now for vacation it'd likely be Thailand or The Philippines for an affordable get away. Or even New Zealand. Otherwise, it depends on what you'd consider 'fun'. If you're both 21 or older, than Vegas is a great city for some adult oriented fun. Had my 21st birthday there and spent 3 days in 2010 for Christmas staying on the strip. Of course, when you're in Vegas you're also about a 6 hour drive from LA, close to the Hoover Dam, not too far from the Grand Canyon, etc. Some nice scenic driving and leisurely hiking in the American South West. A lot of good 'outdoorsy' stuff to do that way too, camping is both cheap and can be romantic for the couple. Maybe somewhere where you can go snorkeling, and also explore caves? Does that sound appealing to you two? If I can think of any more places, i'll post them. Look into Thailand, The Philippines and New Zealand. About once a month I find myself looking how to emigrate to one of those places, haha...

We have always planned to go to Thailand one day anyway so that is on my short list of places we could go.
Although i like the idea of a cruise my fiance doesnt really want to do a cruise just yet, we have discussed it before but she wasnt too keen on the idea. Not keen on NZ, although outside the major places of NZ are pretty and there is lots to do, its too much like Australia, we want to experience different cultures. Europe is back as a possibility as after a bit of discussion with our families we have found out that we have relatives in London and Ireland so it could still be a possibility of spending 1 month doing our own thing and then spending another month or 2 staying with family. Keep the ideas coming.

Sri Lanka is worth a visit.
Poland was probably one of the best places I've been to, whenever I suggest that someone, they think I'm mad. But it had so many things to do and see, really cheap and the people are lovely. Krakow was where I stayed and would recommend but might be worth looking into other places. Massive square with cafes, restaurants shops, churches all around, horse and carriage ride (brownie points with the Mrs), obviously Auchswitz and Birkenau (they were great tours and a real eye opener) and loads of other stuff to see. Whether you want to go and look at those sort of things on your honeymoon is up to you but I thought I'd give my two cents. I'd recommend New York as well but fairly self-explanatory why! |

I think Jack's suggestion of a cruise is a great idea. It depends what you're interested in. Plus if you like travel, and don't want to stay in the same place then maybe fly to France, stay a week, drive to spain, stay a week, then go to Italy or something.

cec thats the original idea, to drive around europe for 3 months, but that idea went out the window when we didnt have enough money to do it, but now its back as a possibility as we can now afford it as long as we go for a shorter time.

So we decided to stick with Europe and the UK. Just booked the wicked campervan and because i sent them a message on facebook asking them to do it cheaper they gave us $700 off so its costing us $3100 for 36days in one of their vans, so cheap. Booking our flights tomorrow and then just have to book a couple of hotels for Rome and Paris and then organise for family and friends to let us stay with them in England and Ireland and we are set. Its going to be 36 days in the van, 8 days in hotels in Europe and then hopefully 3weeks staying with friends and family in the UK. Total price for a 2 month honeymoon travel and accommodation is $7000. Pretty sure i got out cheap with that one.
