Why are there so many locked threads? It seems like some of the older ones are useful, and new members may want to add good advice. Obviously, some people have been away over the summer or doing other things depending on their semester schedule.

Super old threads don't really serve a purpose for a forum and usually just attract spam. You can still read them but the OP probably doesn't need the advice anymore.
