Looking for a mentor

Hey all, I'm new here and my name is Tanner. I am heading into my first year of university this September and I'm looking to broaden my horizons and figure out what I really want to do. I'm very interested in learning more about investing and business. Any ideas of where to start!

First of all this forum has loads of members which can help you out. We also have many forum threads here which can help you. I suggest you first take a look at the threads in 'Business Chat' and 'Starting a Business'.

I agree with Daniel, this forum is practically a mentor for lot's of the members. Even though you don't specifically talk to one person, the advice can be great.

Everyone here is free to chat. I'm available as well. Let us know what questions you have. A long-term mentoring relationship works if there is a fit between both the mentor and mentee. And it also works when the mentee knows exactly what he or she wants. In the beginning, it's very hard for a mentee to know exactly what they want.

Thank you all for the responses! I've been browsing aroun a little but and I plan to look through more thoroughly and in depth when I get a chance!

My main specifics would be brainstorming ideas as creativity isn't my strong suit. Once I have a task or problem I'm very good at overcoming and finding a solution. Essentially I am an excellent marketer(requires creativity, i know, but there's a guided path if that makes any sense) or management type person, but without something to manage or market that us useless.

As for investing I enjoy day trading. I have only done investment sims based off the real markets and have made quite a bit (103% profit in 2 months) and I plan to start investing real money but there is so many options it is overwhelming of where to start with a broker (probably an online service).

It's good to see that this forum is alive and well with so many willing and helpful people! Thanks again!
