Why Things Should Not Be Free

There is way too much free stuff out there. Some of them are not very good. As an entrepreneur, I come to realize that nothing is free. And they shouldn’t be. If an entrepreneur built something that offers value, they should charge for it.
The Need To Monetize
A few days ago, I brought a laptop bag that holds my MacBook. I gladly paid the price that it asked for because it was exactly what I needed in terms of utility and style. To me, it was an upgrade to the old bookbag I had since I was in college. It gave me value.
No one would think that the company that makes the bag would offer the bag for free. Maybe they can monetize it in exchange for advertisements. The company spent resources and time to make that product. The company needs to monetize to make a profit so 1) the company can still make cool-looking bags and 2) grow to make other cool-looking accessories to provide continual value to their customers. And yes, they deserve to make a profit.
Goal Of Every Entrepreneur
The goal of every entrepreneur should be to create something that provides value (how ever that is perceived by the customers) and keep it sustaining. If they can’t keep it sustaining, they should and deserve to go out of business.
Money Is Not The Evil
Money is not the root of all evil. The love of it is.
“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”
I think we young entrepreneurs need to understand that creating a business that makes a profit is a Good thing.
